Thinking Small: Air-Blowing Micro Cable

Date: 2022-12-05 16:23:52

Air-blowing micro cable is a new way to make significant improvements in traditional fiber optic systems, facilitating the rapid adoption of fiber optic networks and providing users with a flexible, small-size, secure, and cost-effective solution. This article can help you understand more about air-blowing micro cable.

\

What is Air-Blowing Micro Cable?
An air-blowing micro cable is a fiber optic cable that can be installed into the micro duct without excavation by air-blown installation. As the cable allows the deployment of the currently required fiber count, the air-blowing micro cable provides a small size, lightweight, perfect cable structure with high fiber density, low cost, and flexibility to install and upgrade to the latest fiber technologies after the initial installation.

\

Air-Blowing Micro Cable Types
Air-blowing micro cable is available in central tube air-blowing mini cable (GCYFXTY) and stranded loose tube air-blowing mini cable (GCYFY) types.
1. Central tube air-blowing mini cable (GCYFXTY) construction is that 250um fibers are positioned in a loose tube which is made of high modulus material and filled with a non-toxic and harmless waterproof compound. The cable is completed with a low friction sheath.

\

Features and Benefits
● Tube filling compound providing key protection for fibers
● High fiber density : 2~24 cores
● Small diameter (2.0mm for 2~4 cores), lightweight, easy to upgrade
● Suitable for 5/3.5mm micro duct
● Structure innovation in sheath with grooves enhancing the blowing performance
1. Stranded loose tube air-blowing mini cable (GCYFY) construction is that 250um fibers are positioned in a loose tube which is made of high modulus material and filled with tube filling compound. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around a non-metallic central strength member and surrounded with dry water-blocking material to form a cable core. An extremely thin outer PE sheath is extruded outside the core.
\

Features and Benefits
● Tube filling compound providing key protection for fibers
● No gel in cable core for water blocking (Dry core), low carbon and environmentally friendly
● High fiber density: 2~288 cores
● Small diameter (9.4mm for 288 cores), lightweight, easy to upgrade
● Structure innovation in sheath enhancing the blowing performance
● Optional for downsized stranded loose tube air blowing micro cable by using 200μm fiber (6mm for 144 cores while standard dimension for 144 cores is 7.9mm)

Applications
Air-blowing micro cable is used in the air-blowing installation, core network, metropolitan area network (MAN), access network, backbone network, local area network (LAN), FTTx network, data center, and 5G.

\

Conclusion
Air-blowing micro cable using air-blowing laying to connect the optical branch point and user access point. The cable provides good mechanical and temperature performance, high tensile strength ensured by FRP, flexibility, easy construction, and low cost. Sun Telecom provides all air-blowing micro cables to the global market.
